West Coast Labs Finds eSafe Version 7.1 Blocks More than 99 Percent of Spam in Checkmark Certification Test

eSafe Version 7.1 also receives CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM) from the U.K. government

BALTIMORE, July 8, 2009 – Aladdin Knowledge Systems, a global leader in information security, now affiliated under common management with SafeNet, Inc., today announced that eSafe Version 7.1, a Web and mail security gateway, received Checkmark Premium Level Anti-Spam Certification for a second consecutive year. eSafe Version 7.1 was also awarded its second CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM) from the U.K. government. The awards were a result of independent testing by West Coast Labs, which showed that eSafe blocked more than 99 percent of spam. These two distinctions reaffirm eSafe’s leadership position in providing the highest levels of Internet and e-mail security.

West Coast Labs, part of Haymarket Media Group and a leading independent test facility for information security products and services, conducts testing using strict CCTM standards, within which eSafe Version 7.1 was able to achieve both prestigious certifications. The CCTM program provides a government quality mark for the public and private sectors based on accredited independent testing, designed to prove the validity of security functionality claims made by vendors.

"Achieving Checkmark Premium Level Anti-Spam Certification two years in a row reinforces Aladdin's commitment to providing robust gateway security solutions that protect organizations against a wide variety of Web and e-mail attacks," said Lysa Myers, director of research at West Coast Labs.

eSafe Version 7.1 uses an industry-first Dual Anti-Spam Engine that delivers real-time reputation and distribution pattern technology, blocking sudden spam and malware outbreaks as they emerge, without blocking legitimate e-mails.

Precision Industries, Inc., an eSafe customer, manufactures high quality metal stamping, welding, and tools. Some of its products are used in automotive safety equipment, such as seatbelts and airbags. When the company found its business facing too many spam e-mails, Precision Industries turned to eSafe to replace its ineffective solution.

"Since August, our organization has received 2.2 million e-mails, and 1.6 million of these were detected as spam by eSafe," said Tim Key, IT manager at Precision Industries. "By detecting and blocking spam at the network gateway, eSafe enables our employees to remain protected, focused, and productive. eSafe also keeps our IT staff focused on core tasks instead of having to constantly worry about the health of our network, or the burden of managing user and network performance issues typically created by spam."

In addition to Premium Anti-Spam certification, eSafe Version 7.1 received Checkmark Certification for Anti-Spyware Gateway, Anti-Trojan, Anti-Virus Gateway, and URL Filtering. This year’s CCTM certification is also eSafe’s second such recognition from the U.K. government, following the same certification in March 2007.

"Spam is a serious problem in businesses because it affects employee productivity and network performance, and exposes the network to malicious threats," said Rami Shalom, managing director of content security, Aladdin Knowledge Systems. "Receiving such high results in the West Coast Labs test provides independent verification of eSafe's ability to deliver real-time security solutions that keep organizations and their employees protected and productive."
